Severe Loss Digital Hearing Aids

There are two types of hearing aids.  Analog and digital hearing aids. For severe loss, digital hearing aids can be used. Hearing aids also varies depending on the extent of hear loss.  There are also other new treatments that can restore sense of hearing.

Hearing Aids Types: Analog And Digital

When it comes to choosing a hearing aid you will find that it involves having to decide between an analog hearingaid and a digital hearingaid. In fact, the choice today is not all that hard to make as digital hearing aids are becoming more affordable and therefore are attracting greater number of buyers. A digital hearing aid incorporates innovation at its best and it is therefore driving the analog hearing aid out of the market.

There are also many studies that have been conducted that show that a digital hearing aid can provide better quality of sound as compared to any other kinds of hearing aids, especially the analog hearing aid. It is not surprising to learn that buyers are opting to go the digital way as digital hearing aids provide better listening qualities. However, it is necessary to understand each type of hearing aid before making up your mind as to which is the better option for you.

Analog hearing aids are able to transform sound into waves (electrical) and though this often results in very accurate recorded sounds, they fall short of the accuracy provided by digital hearing aids. For their part, digital hearing aids do the conversion of sound with the help of very precise formulae (mathematical) that result in highly accurate (in fact, exact duplication) of the original sound. This makes the digital hearing aid a far superior option as compared to analog digital hearing aid.

It is also necessary to find out why people still choose to wear analog hearing aids. Though digital hearing aids are much better as far as sound quality is concerned, they are also more expensive and this means that not everybody is able to afford them. This can best be seen when one compares the price of an analog hearing aid with that of a digital hearing aid. The former costs only $200 and $1,000, which is significantly lower than owning a digital hearing aid which will cost something between $800 and $2,000. It is easy to see that digital hearing aids are about twice as costly as the analog hearing aids.

The better the quality of sound provided b a hearing aid the more costly it will turn out to be. Other than cost, a digital hearing aid also differs from analog hearing aids on other counts as well. Digital hearing aids convert sound into calculations and codes (digital) which means better quality sound. In addition, digital hearing aids can also be customized to fit to suit a person’s individual needs. What’s more, digital hearing aids models are available in very tiny sizes and so, they will not be visible when worn.

It would not be wrong to say that a digital hearing aid, in spite of its cost factor, provides better quality sound output and more accurate sound as well. In addition, such hearing aids do not give off any static as is the case with analog hearing aids. So, if you are looking for best quality listening then you need to opt for the digital hearing aid. If cost is the major consideration, you would no doubt want to settle for the analog hearing aids.
